Lot 2379 HIGH QUALITY 20 GA. BELGIAN O/U BOXLOCK EJECTOR

SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN. Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 48076. The 25-5/8" demi-bloc O/U barrels are fitted with narrow matted ventilated rib. Top barrel is engraved "For Frank Pugliese" "Trenton N.J." either side of rib. Left ejector housing is engraved "MADE IN BELGIUM". Bottoms of barrels are stamped with 1937 Belgian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Case hardened side plated boxlock action features non-automatic safety, double top bolt third fastener and gold plated Miller single selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage nicely cut and shaded varying size scroll as counterpoint to game scenes with dogs inlaid in gold and engraved with Bulino highlights. Left lockplate has flushing ducks at front with an alert pointer at rear; right side has quail at front with setter turning to scent and about to point. No signature found. Somewhat fiddle figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measure 14-1/4" over checkered wood butt on 2-1/2" plain American walnut extension. Stock also appears to have been converted to straight grip with checkering re-cut in area of removal. Trigger guard tang is very short and unengraved. Matching three piece ejector forend has fleur-de-lis checkering and Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .635. U .632. Restriction: O .032 (full). U .027 (mod). Wall thickness: O .027. U .024. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/4". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: about 1/4" off. LOP: 14-1/4". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 9 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Original except for stock modification. Metal retaining over 90% original finishes. Buttstock partially refinished with addition of lengthening piece and removal of pistol grip. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight.
